There’s a lot to like about these nail trimmers. They have a safety lock to keep them closed when not in use, there’s also a little shield on top so that you don’t get hit in a eye with a piece of your beloved pet’s toenail when you clip them. (Note: it is removable if you don’t like it)
There’s also a built in light! This is one of those things I didn’t know I needed until I had it. And it won’t shine in your pets eyes either. The light has an on off switch, so you don’t have to use it if you don’t want to.
They are a little bit bulky, that is the only downside I can see to these. Other than that they are pretty perfect.
Pictured next to my regular clipper. It’s thicker and less ergonomically comfortable in my hand. The light works, but didn’t help me enough with my cat’s difficult nails. These are effective clippers and cut nails just fine. The light could be more useful for others, but our cat’s nails are just too dark. We can’t see the nerve.
This nail clipper is much larger than I was expecting. I'm using it for my cat, and it feels a bit oversized for her. The best part of this clipper is the flashlight. Having the light makes it so much easier to tell that I'm clipping the cat's nail in the right place. The clear plastic piece that is meant to catch nail clippings is pretty useless. It gets in the way of trimming the nail, but even if it didn't, it falls off way too easily to be effective. Overall, I'm glad to have this clipper purely because the light is so helpful.

Based on the listed price of $13, these are 5 stars based on my experience. The flashlight is incredibly helpful for me to see clipping my dog's black nails. My pup is 20 pounds and skittish. She didn't seem to mind getting her nails trimmed with this set of clippers at all. I think it helped me be faster too having the flashlight and the angled edge so that I didn't have to spend as much time looking to see what I was doing. The file is really challenging to get out of the handle, but once out, it does have a nice filing surface. The little protective cap to keep the nail pieces from flying out is nice. The handle is easy to cut with. My only slightly negative remark is that the plastic feels very inexpensive. I'm not sure with a lot of use if the handle will stay intact- it feels like the spring and nail clipper are definitely stronger than the plastic that holds the pieces together. But for now, it cut well, and the light is a huge plus. The packaging was helpful too.
I got these delivered today and of course I had to try it out right away. I have worked in the vet industry for almost 20 years and have come across almost every kind of nail clipping device you can think of. To see that one finally put a light on it is genius! My little Chihuahua has dark nails and even though I've cut thousands upon thousands of nails somehow I always end up getting this poor little guys quicks. My SO and I have a system down that requires him holding the dog and a flashlight while I get his teeny tiny little nails into the nail clippers all while being blinded by the flashlight... It's been an ordeal.
With these I was able to cut my tiny dog's nails all by myself because the light was on it. It does take a little bit of getting used to to look through the clear plastic guard and as you can see it has a staticy cling for some animal hair on it. I wouldn't necessarily say that this guard catches the clippings, but it does keep them from flying into your face and down your shirt which is nice. I honestly thought that the darker green part on the handle was the file however I quickly found out that it was just a battery cover and the file is actually tucked into the handle which I did not realize based off of the listing pictures. I made sure to include a picture of this for anyone else so that nobody is confused about not receiving the file.
The only main grip that I have about this nail clippers is the plastic material that it's made out of. These would have been much more high quality in some type of wooden handle, which would be significantly better for the environment. Bamboo is inexpensive, more durable and looks much nicer. Also the type of plastic that it is is very slippery so I will probably be putting a cork grip on the handles so that I have better control and it doesn't slip out of my hands. I'm hoping that these last awhile but the plastics seems very cheap and likely to break if I drop it. We will see!
They saved themselves 2 stars because they do cut nails, and that’s the main goal…. Everything else was a bit crazy though.
Out of the box I couldn’t get the light to work - I took out the batteries and put them back in multiple times, and still no light. I moved on.
I went to trim my 45lb English Setter’s nails, and the cut is good, but the plastic guard flew off with each cut, scaring my pup. I then left it off and kept trimming - she seemed more passive than with our last ones, so I think the sharpness is good, but then the light randomly started working while cutting!… and then stopped again… and then the battery compartment cover flew off while cutting… then the nail file…
To be honest, I had no idea so many things could fly off of a set of doggo nail trimmers, ha. In the end we clipped the last nail with no batteries, no battery cover, no plastic shield, and no nail file… but the cut was pretty good 🤷🏻♀️. I did find the nail file and worked an edge. The file is not very good but kind of helps.
Maybe this would be less of an event with a smaller dog or a cat, but I’m not sure I’d recommend this to anyone with a dog bigger than 30lbs +/-.

I have struggled cutting his nails because I have never had a cat with white fut on their paws and I cannot see his clear nails. It's caused lots of problems for both of us. This was helpful but not perfect. The light is bright and helps me to see his nails which makes the process MUCH smoother. However, the light would not stay on. I tried all sorts of things and no matter what, I had to go through turning it off and back on again and shaking the clippers each time I used them. The nail shield is a great idea but it doesn't stay in place and just falls off. I ended up taking it all the way off and not using it. The clippers have a nice feel and the spring action works well to cut the nails. I like that it has a button to hold them closed for storage. I tried the nail file, but as expected, it didn't go over well with my kitty. So, I'm giving it 4 stars. The cutting works well. The light helps when it works. And, my cat didn't fight me when I cut his nails with this clipper. So, in that sense, it mostly worked for me.
These do their job. They cut well and are very sturdy. The light is a nice addition but its not always practical. The guard is also nice but it pops off way too easily. These are also very large compared to standard clippers. So trimming nails on small phase paws is a little more clumsy than the smaller clippers. But all in all, they do their main purpose.

I was really eager to try these clippers because, honestly, trimming my dog’s nails had become a full-blown operation. These are great! The light comes in very handy! Made of sturdy good quality Materials! The only reason for 4 stars is that the little clear plastic part will not stay on it falls off any time it’s bumped. But overall a great product.
The nail trimmers are very sharp and they cut nice and cleanly. I am new to trimming my dogs nails and the little light helps me see exactly where I am trimming. I like the size and weight of these clippers. They fit nicely in my hand and have a smooth motion. I am happy with these.
I am using this for our 2 cats, 1 of whom endures nail trimming, and 1 that fights nearly start to finish (I rarely get it done in 1 sitting!). I think they are a bit larger than needed for cats, but I don't like using the scissor style trimmers. The light is useful for my old eyes (less need for my cheaters) more than showing me how far down the nail I can cut. Based on the design, it's a little difficult to cut as far as I need, though I believe this is more of a learning curve. These cut clean, unlike the human nail clippers that I was using, that seemed to split the nail too often, leaving sharp edges that would catch more than the long claws. These will definitely be my go-to tool for trimming our cats' nails.
Very good clippers. So far I've used them on my medium sized Blue Heeler, my Chihuahua, and one cat that allows me to touch her paws without murdering me. The light feature I really really love since sometimes it's hard for me to see where their blood veins end and I get worried I'll clip that off accidently. With the light I'm able to see it clearly and avoid any accidents, doesn't do much though if some of their nails are darker than normal so it's still a guessing game with that. The little pocket nail filer is a nice touch but probably won't get much use for me but I do like that it's hidden and out of the way.
